Meet Elizabeth
I am pleased to be running for reelection to the Rye Neck Board of Education, where I hope to continue to serve with dedication and a deep commitment to student success, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement. In the past 3 years, I’ve worked collaboratively and effectively with fellow board members, administrators, teachers, and families to support academic excellence, strengthen school programs, and promote a safe, inclusive learning environment for all students.
During this time, we saw increased transparency in our school budget by making actual spending available alongside forecast spending; increased accountability to parents and taxpayers by recording planning sessions and making committee meetings open to the public along with their agendas and supporting documents; prioritized resources for emotional and mental health initiatives such as Effective School Solutions and social emotional screeners; and completed the search for a new superintendent incorporating community input into the search process. Rye Neck’s “small but mighty” K-12 schools proudly provide our students with a well-rounded education where students have access to opportunities in athletics and the arts.
Prior to my service on the board, I have had the privilege to serve at globally recognized schools during my years living internationally, and in a Christian NGO for over 20 years. My career includes a decade in asset management at Goldman Sachs and I am a product of New York public schools in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Syosset. I graduated with a B.A. from Yale University in Economics and East Asian Studies.
I seek reelection to continue advocating for educational innovation, responsible budgeting, and policies that put students first. Currently, I serve as the chair of the Policy Committee and a member of the Facilities Committee and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Team. Previously, I have chaired the Audit Committee as well as served on the Technology Planning and Advisory Team and as a board representative to Special Services. My husband Ping and I have lived in Rye Neck since 2019. We have three sons, including 2 in high school and a recent graduate.
Relevant Experience
Care
With a background in finance, I understand the importance of managing a budget responsibly. I will continue to help our community allocate our financial resources to meet our educational goals.
Collaboration
My career experience has taught me the importance of collaborating – listening to and considering all stakeholder needs, asking the right questions, creating a plan, and then building consensus to achieve results.
Community
I am an active member of the Rye Neck PTSA International Committee. Since the pandemic, I have hosted a neighborhood outdoor concert series to bring neighbors together to build community, promote music appreciation and give the youth opportunities to perform. Prior to relocating to Rye Neck 6 years ago, I was Chair of my residents committee, where I was responsible for overseeing capital improvements, security, safety, and general upkeep of the building.
